Dr. Grace -Ann Cornwall

PhD, MSc, B.Sc – Operations Manager, Social Development Specialist, Social Researcher and Author

Dr. Garce-Ann Cornwall is the Operations Manager with responsibility for project planning, development and project management across multiple approved company projects according to timelines and budget parameters.  

 She previously worked as the Regional Programme Coordinator at UN Women in the Eastern Caribbean and played a pivotal role in coordinating the CARICOM, European Union, and UN Women Regional Spotlight Initiative Project. She collaboratively designed and implemented capacity biding initiatives geared to strengthen national and civil society actors in addressing violence against girls, women and families. Prior to this, she was employed as the Programme Director for Social Development at the OECS Commission in Saint Lucia which showcased her strategic vision in social development, focusing on policies relating to social protection, citizen security, and youth development.

About Her

Dr. Cornwall also served as the Director of Research and Evaluation at the Ministry of National Security, Jamaica, where she directed the research program to shape citizen security agendas. Prior to that she held the position of Programme Dean for Community Development at the International University of the Caribbean, where she fostered an inclusive environment while overseeing both faculty and staff. She proved herself as a capable mentor and educator. She supervised several undergraduate and graduate theses and transmitted her passion and talent for research to young sociologists.

She has spearheaded projects relating to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, child labour; climate change and public debt; gender-based violence; child protection, citizen security and disaster risk reduction. She has provided consultancy services for esteemed multinational organizations such as the Caribbean Policy Development Centre, the ILO, the UNDP, and UN Women, across different regions.

Her passion for social development and people upliftment influenced her Doctoral dissertation in 2012 Towards a Sustainable Approach to Youth in Participatory Development at the Local Level in Jamaica and a publication in the Caribbean Dialogue journal entitled, Youth in Participatory Development at the Community Level.

In 2021 In 2021, she published her first memoir, From Bandana to Madras: God’s Mercy and Faithfulness to me from Jamaica to Saint Lucia. It depicts her journey from Jamaica to Saint Lucia to begin working with a regional organisation and unearths the joy and renewed sense of hope in the power of community, family, and networks in a foreign country.

Dr. Cornwall’s commitment to professional development is evident through certifications such as the Introduction to Results Based Management by Caribbean Evaluators International & Le Groupe-conseil baastel (Baastel), the Professional Certificate in Fundamental Principles for Writing Policies and Procedures from The University of the West Indies, Social Sector Management program by the Inter-American Development Bank, and training in Techniques in Project Management by the Government of Jamaica. Dr. Cornwall is a member of the Research and Publication Committee of Caribbean Evaluators International.

She enjoys reading, watching the creative arts and cooking. Favourite food− Jamaican curry goat with white basmati rice, potato (sweet potato) salad and tossed salad
